The Mohonk Mountain House is a vintage hotel located on the Shawangunk Ridge of the Catskill Mountains in New York State. It was founded in 1870 as a family resort for guests to enjoy the spectacular mountaintop environment and as an educational setting for the study of botany, geology, and, in fact, outdoor living. Linda and I have treasurcd our visits there and have shared it with many of our children and grandchildren.

Adjacent to the hotel is Lake Mohonk. It was formed by glaciers and is over 60 feet deep. Boating and fishing are two favorite activities that are featured. Lake trout thrive in the deep cold water. My individually hand painted cachet is based on our Mohonk experiences and shows a boat on the lake. Note the natural cliffs on the opposite shore which were formed and left by the receding glacier ice.
