Len Slye, who assumed the name Roy Rogers, was a cowboy entertainer who rose to stardom. He was a founder of the
acclaimed vocal group known as the *Sons of the Pioneers." He appeared in over 100 movies plus numerous radio and
television episodes known as the "Roy Rogers Show" As a result of this widespread national exposure, he became known as the "King of the Cowboys."
In many of his films and television shows, he appeared with his wife, Dale Evans, his horse Trigger, and his German Shepherd dog Bullet. In 1960 Roy was honored with three stars on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame" for motion pictures, television, and radio. In 1976 Roy and Dale were inducted into the Westem Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City. He also was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Throughout his career, Roy was known for fine western wear and in particular, for his cowboy shirts. ln my hand painted cachet, I show him wearing a fringed shirt that immediately catches your eye.
