This is a historic lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay and is the most recognized light in Maryland. It is the only screw-pile light in the bay which stands on its originai site. The current structure is a 1 1/2 story hexagonal wooden cottage equipped with a foghorn as well as the actual light. My individually hand painted envelopes make wonderful use of blues to capture an amazing maritime setting.

In the foreground, a magnificent humpback whale breaches with a leap out of the water. Adults reach up to 56 feet in length and weigh up to 40 metric tons. Because they breach often and engage in other surface behavior, they are very popular with whale watchers. Humpbacks migrate up to 10,000 miles each year.
