Wood Ducks by Rod Lawrence
Fred's Anecdotal Note
1990 MICHIGAN
Enclosed is your first hand-painted MILFORD cover. It features a male Woodduck peering out from his nesting tree overlooking a marsh. The state stamp portrays a pair of Woodducks and the serial numbers used are 320 to 585 inclusive. As will usually be the case, several stamps were not used. The "Issued Mo. and Day" blanks at the bottom of the stamp are not filled out on collector stamps but rather left in mint condition. I hope you enjoy this fine beginning to your MILFORD collection.

Lot 41 MILFORD 90-04 — Michigan 1990 — 3/1/80
This is the first MILFORD duck cover that I released for sale. It is the fourth MILFORD that was made and features a male Woodduck peering out from his nesting tree overlooking a marsh.
Woodducks also thrive in forested wetlands, slow-moving rivers, swamps, and beaver ponds. Their habitat must include slow, shaded waters with dense emergent vegetation for cover and an abundant supply of seeds, nuts, and insects. The State stamp portrays a pair of Woodducks, and the serial numbers used are 320 to 585 inclusive. As will usually be the case, several stamps were not used. The "Issued Mo. and Day" blanks at the bottom of the stamp are not filled out on collector stamps but rather are left in mint condition.
