1993 NORTH CAROLINA

The water lily pond located in the formal gardens at Duke University served as the habitat setting for this hand-painted MILFORD cachet. During a visit there in the summer of 1990, I was struck by the brilliant beauty and wide variety of colors of these lovely aquatic plants. Two swans enjoy a placid swim amid the pond's living rainbow bouquet.

The new stamp and the bluets wildflower are canceled on Day of Issue at Raleigh, North Carolina. Serial numbers used were 3001 to 3200 except for 3026.
