Buffleheads by Kenneth Nanney

Fred's Anecdotal Note

1993 0HI0

A lone bufflehead treads water in this hand-painted cachet. It is dusk and, as the sun slips to the horizorn, its fading Iight casts subdued rays across the somber water. The motion of the duck's wake causes an attractive pattern of ripples on the darkening surface.

The new Ohio stamp has a crisp design with a flight of five coming in for a landing. The nine dollar face value makes it one of the highest of any state. It and the trumpet honeysuckle wildflower stamp are postmarked at Columbus, Ohio. 220 covers were produced for this issue.
