Alaska 1993

Tule White Front Geese by Ed Tussey

Fred's Anecdotal Note

1993 ALASKA

Glacier Bay National Park along the coast of Alaska north of Sitka provides the setting for this MILFORD. A towering glacier goes through the process known as "calving" as huge slabs of ice break off and crash into the sea. In addition to the sheer glacier cliff, the newly-formed icebergs float in the cold, coastal water. In front of this grand sight, two white-fronted geese fly across my hand-painted Glacier Bay cachet.

The new duck stamp and fireweed wildflower are postmarked with a Iarge, Juneau bullseye. Two hundred covers were produced for this issue.
