Summer 2020 Mail Sale Commentary 

Lot 1 B102 — Statue of Liberty 3-31-78

This is my second cachet and as such is rarely seen for sale and is highly sought. It was done less than a month after my number one — Quiltmaking. I traveled to the main New York City Post Office (Zip 10001) where both a plate number single and a coil pair received the large print hand cancel first day of issue postmark (as opposed to the B101's small print machine cancel). To secure an additional cancel, I drove north well over a hundred miles to the small village of "Liberty," New York, in the Catskill Mountains. There, a second coil as well as an additional single were postmarked with a large bullseye with killer bars.
