Collins Announcement
A few months ago, we announced several new varieties of early Quiltmaking covers from March 1978, which I had addressed to myself and mailed on the day I started producing Collins First Day Covers. The covers were subsequently boxed and put aside. Shortly thereafter in April of 1978 (as mentioned in that announcement), I hand addressed and mailed a small number of my third cover (Lighthouse) and stored those in the same box. In total there are only 16 Lighthouse covers which were hand addressed, and they are on Collins covers with four different cancels (C103 to C106). I went on to relate that the addressed covers did not see the light of day until recently when they were discovered during an extensive reorganization project. The first special variety (Quiltmaking - A105) was greeted with a lot of interest and I have decided that now is the time to offer one of the special Lighthouse varieties.
The Lighthouse stamp is only the third stamp issue that I did. All of the FDCs for the Lighthouse issue are limited, but only 6 of the C103 variety were made. These covers, which were hand addressed and sent through the mail, have an Atlantic Highlands, NJ cancel on two stamps. This is the first time I have ever offered one of these six extremely rare C103 Lighthouse FDCs, and this is your opportunity to obtain it.
