Lot 1 L101 — Viking Lander on Mars

This cover is the very first "Space" topical Collins, and the relatively few times it has appeared on the open market, the prices achieved have been excellent. The hand painted cachet shows the Lander sitting on the red soil surface of Mars. It's one of the earliest Collins cachets. A plate number single has the Hampton, VA first day of issue slogan postmark. The other first day of issue cancel is from Kitty Hawk, NC where I traveled after I was fmished in Hampton. It's a great postmark from the site of the Wright Brothers' first flight and really adds a lot of philatelic interest to this early Collins It's a tremendous Space collectible, and if you need it, now is your chance
