Lot 10 K201 — Olympic High Jump (11-1-79)

This is a very early Classic Collins that came out in 1979. It was issued in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and, after getting the hand cancel there on a plate number single, it was off to Moscow, Idaho for the perfect second cancel. The large magenta postmark with killer bars is a dandy! The hand painted cachet shows the jumper rolling over the high bar, and each of the Olympic interlocked rings are also carefully hand painted. This is the first time this cover has been in one of my sales.
