Lot 10 L201 - Will Rogers 

The way the stamps and long, balanced first day postmarks are arranged on this cover turned out perfectly. It starts with a single stamp at lower right, and this stamp has the official first day of issue postmark from Claremore, Oklahoma. The covers were then taken via the Will Rogers Turnpike to Butler, Missouri, where I obtained a great pictorial cancel. Rogers was known as the "cowboy philosopher," and the pictorial shows a frontier stagecoach stop. The postmark is from "Stagecoach Depot Station." The hand painted cachet shows Will in western attire with a lariat in his hand. I'm looking to establish a base from which a price history can be established, so this is a good opportunity to acquire a 1979 Collins that is bound to trend upward in price as time goes by.
