Lot 5 M201, M202, M203, and M204 — Vietnam Photo Cachets (set of four)
In 1962 while in the Air Force, I served in DaNang, Vietnam. While there, I took a fair number of photos documenting the people in their locales on the shore of the South China Sea. When this stamp honoring Vietnam veterans was issued on November 11, 1979, I chose four of my photos as my cachets. They are "The Children" (M201), "The Street" (M202), "The Church" (M203), and "The Beach" (M204). A portion of the cachet showing the Vietnam map and flag is hand painted.
Each cover is rubber stamped on the reverse, documenting that I personally took the cachet photos while serving with my Air Commando unit deployed at DaNang. The adventurous story of my time in DaNang is told on pages 33 to 36 of the book. This lot includes all four of these historic photo cachet covers.
