1999 FEDERAL

A gray wolf peers out from behind a boulder as a greater scaup duck swims by. Also known as the *broad bill" or "blue bill" the male has agray back, black breast, bright white sides, and an iridescent green head. The female is dark brown. It prefers saltwater. It winters on seacoasts and large lakes. The rest of

the year its habitat includes lakes, bays, rivers, and tundra ponds.
