PAN AMERICAN GAMES
For sports enthusiasts and collectors, this is a super combo First Day Cover. In addition to the new Pan American stamp, I've added to each cover two additional related stamps. The first is the ten-cent Pan American Air Mail stamp (C56) issued in conjunction with the 1959 Games which were held in Chicago. The second issue I've added is the colorful fifteen-cent Olympic stamp (1462) which came out for the 1972 Olympic Games which were held in Munich, Germany. All three stamps are canceled at the First Day city of Indianapolis -- site of the Pan American Games.
For my hand-painted cachet, I came up with a very interesting concept. The new stamp shows sprinters in a muscular abstract of motion. Directly under that stamp I placed the Olympic stamp which shows stylized sprinters in the five Olympic colors. Directly under both stamps I did a sprinter in "real" terms as my cachet. As he leaves the starting blocks at the start of the race, note how his form compares to the stamps above. I think it is an interesting and eye-catching presentation on cover. Item Z1101 - $8.50
