Lot 5 G301 — "Christmas City U.S.A." — 10/31/80

This very early Christmas first day cover is a beauty! The stamp illustrates the Madonna and child, taken from a stained-glass window in the Bethlehem Chapel in Washington's National Cathedral. After servicing the covers in Washington, D.C., they were taken to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the great large pictorial cancel showing wisemen and camels. The text reads "Bethlehem, PA — The Christmas City of the U.S.A." The cachet for this wonderful cover is a lovely manger scene.
