CHRISTMAS 1980

Christmas - Toys. My trip to Michigan's northern nenninsula was one of the most rewarding I have encountered. Flying in to Marquette the previous evening, I started my journey to Christmas at dawn. The rising sun above the shoreline of Lake Superior turned the sky to mingling shades of amber and pink, reflected off the water. The village of Christmas is a very small outpost on the shore of the Great Lakes and the post orETEe is located in a small general/convenience store. Since toys - drum, horn and top - are the subjects on the stamp, I decided to continue that theme with my cachet and unofficial cancel. The handpainted cachet has a line of toy soldiers marchina along in their brightly colored uniforms. The unofficial cancel from auTrain, Mich, recognizes the countless electric toy engines pulling their various cars around countless Christmas trees. Item #H301. $4.95
