FRANCES PERKINS

The handpainted cachet features likenesses of Frances Perkins and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Perkins was Secretary of Labor and, as such, was the first woman Cabinet member in U.S. history. She served under President Roosevelt.

After obtaining the "First Day of Issue" hand cancels in Washington, D.C., the covers were taken to Boston, birthplace of Perkins. In Boston, a beautiful unofficial cancel was added to each cover on an additional single. The quality of the duo cancels on these covers is excellent.
