LOVE

This heart-dominated cachet is certainly different from any I've ever done before. It has to be seen, but I'll try to describe it briefly.

For a starting point, I decided to place the stamp and subsequent Loveland, Colorado postmark in the center of the envelope. Surrounding them is a large heart with hand-painted multiple borders with the outside one having a fancy scrolled effect. In each of the four corners is a diminutive pink heart with a corresponding scrolled border in a matching blue. In large script the word "LOVE" is written across the entire cover with the heart-entrapped stamp and cancel separating the "LO" from the "VE". This large script lettering is hand painted in a deep blue. Finally, the whole design is presented against a patterned background of hundreds of tiny individual hearts. Colors chosen for the hand-painted cachet complement and coordinate with those used in the new stamp.

Unlike any other COLLINS ever produced. Simple but intricate. Frilly but plain. Colorful but subdued. A contradiction in terms? You bet, and this one you'll have to see in person to form your own opinion. No one has ever said that "love" is easy to explain. Item #C2001. $10.00.
