RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD

A delightful pictorial cancellation is the focal point around which I built this cachet and cover. The vertical stamp was placed in the lower right corner which allowed me to position this whimsical postmark at the envelope's center. It shows a line drawing of a hummingbird in flight and the four curved fine-line canceling bars that trail it give the bird a sense of motion and flight. Definitely something different and attractive in the way of First Day cancels.

The hand-painted cachet wraps red flowers, vines and green leaves completely around the featured postmark. Into this display of color, I've added a large, beautiful ruby-throated humminngbird in natural plumage that only hand painting can achieve. Its size rivals that of its real life counterpart.

Despite all of the above appearing on the cover, it still maintains a very uncluttered and sharp appearance. Don't miss adding this FDC beauty to your collection. Item #N2001. $10.25.
