MINERALS

These stamps were very attractive but presented a challenge as to how best to present them on First Day covers. Early on I decided to offer a variety of cachet topics and also to obtain a variety of First Day cancellations. My hand painted cachets will offer upcoming renditions of an Azurite close-up, a Wulfenite scene which includes dinosaurs, and an early man painting set in a volcanic valley featuring an erupting mountain and Variscite. For this first of four covers, however, my cachet shows an early coppersmith working in his shop. A bellows is in the background as he patiently hammers a pot into shape. Adding to this entire cachet is the inclusion of three finished pieces of copperware.

The new stamp is postmarked in Minersville, PA. As a special project to enhance the collectibility of this set, I endeavored to have each of the four stamps cancelled in a different state. I was successful and I'm sure the only cachetmaker to do it.

As the other covers become available in the near future, I'll tell you about each of the postmarks and give you a more detailed verbal glimpse of the varied cachets. It's quite a set.

To identify all of the cachets as a common set, I've used the same distinctive type style. Copper will start you off. Item #T2002. $10.75.
