THE FLAMINGO

This is the second of five Wild Animal series COLLINS Covers that I have offered. In this brightly colored sub-tropical cachet, six pink flamingos appear to be doing a watery ballet as they splash in royal blue water. Tropical palms and vegetation in shades of striking greens provide an eye-catching backdrop to the dominant pinks and blues.

On the Day of Issue, Ryan and I did the Giraffe cover in Great Neck, New York in the morning. (Item #W2001 - still available at $10.75). We then re-crossed the Hudson River and traveled to Florida, New York and a wonderfully appropriate First Day cancel for this flamingo stamp. The postmark is red in color and goes very nicely with the cachet and stamp.

Soon I will be offering the final three covers in this set -Giant Panda, White Bengal Tiger, and King Penguins. Each will have a unique and related First Day cancel that I have obtained for collectors to enhance interest, philatelic significance, and collector appeal. The final three will also be subject related as are "Great Neck" for the giraffe and "Florida" for the flamingo. Nature and Wildlife will always be well collected topicals and I certainly recommend this COLLINS set very highly.
