Wild Animals
White Benga Tiger
Collins Cover Announcement
WILD ANIMAL SERIES
WHITE BENGAL TIGER
The hand-painted cachet on this COLLINS First Day Cover is a beauty. A rare white tiger lies in the tall grass and stares at you with emerald green eyes. This magnificent and powerful beast is one that you will want in your COLLINS collection as animals that are not native to North America don't appear very often on United States stamps.
On the Day of Issue, these covers were canceled at Tigerville, South Carolina which adds much to their appeal. It was a COLLINS exclusive and you won't find this terrific First Day cancel on any other FDCs. Item #W2005. $10.75.
A FINAL SUMMARY
This COLLINS set has something for everyone. The subject matter of wild animals is one that is very popular. For those who desire and seek colorful items, the stamps are among the most vivid ever issued and I've tried to complement their almost gaudy appearance with realistic but equally as colorful hand-painted cachets.
For philatelic purists, I put a three-state, five-city effort into swing with the objective of obtaining five different and related First Day postmarks. Ryan and I secured Great Neck, New York (Giraffe) and Florida, New York (Flamingo) while Maureen traveled on the same day to the Carolinas. There she succeeded in obtaining Tigerville, South Carolina (Tiger); Tuxedo, North Carolina (Penguin); and China Grove, North Carolina (Panda) First Day cancellations.
In addition to the King Penguin and White Bengal Tiger offered here, I still have available in limited numbers the Flamingo, the Giant Panda, and the Giraffe at $10.75 each. Down the road, future FDC collectors will be searching for these distinctive and unique Wild Animal COLLINS Covers.
