Wild Turkeys - "Holiday Gobblers"

In 1988 I decided to create a seasonal Christmas cover that would feature our nation's wildlife as the subject for my hand-painted cachet. This theme has proven to be very popular with COLLINS collectors and I am most pleased to present my 1992 edition - "Holiday Gobblers".

A pair of wild turkeys take a winter stroll across a snow covered forest clearing. The sleek hen walks ahead leading her mate on. The large, old Tom follows behind with all feathers fluffed and his tail in full display. As they walk past white birches and tall spruce trees, the two-some make a grand sight.

Two of the new Christmas stamps are used -- the religious and the self-adhesive toy train. A New York City First Day bullseye postmark ties the stamps to the cover.
