Collins Cover Announcement

American Scientists

Severo Ochoa Biochemist

Ochoa was born in Spain on September 24, 1905. His early science education was completed in his home country, and advanced studies were done in Germany and England. The Spanish Civil War forced him to leave his beloved Spain, and he ended up in the United States. The New York University School of Medicine recognized his incredible abilities, and in1942 Sever° began along academic relationship.

The Medical Research Associate became an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in 1945. Subsequent promotions were to Professor of Pharmacology in 1946 and Professor of Biochemistry in 1954. Shortly thereafter, he became the Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry. In 1956 Ochoa became an American citizen, and in 1959 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology of Medicine. In 1979 he received the United States National Medal of Science.

This set of four is taking shape very nicely. Each of the four distinctly colored stamps is affixed in a different corner. The oval framed portraits and bold block letters are hand painted in colors that coordinate perfectly with the attractive stamps. My cover for biochemist American scientist Servero Ochoa is now ready. Collins #C4904 at $14.00.
