Federal Duck

White-fronted Goose

Collins Cover Announcement

2011 Federal Migratory Bird Stamp

The Annual Collins "Duck"

White-Fronted Goose

High Value Stamp - $15.00 face

This well traveled, distinctive goose has a very prominent white face, broad black stripes across its chest, and bright orange legs. Because the black stripes or bars are often in irregular patterns, the nickname of this goose is "specklebelly."

The white-fronted goose breeds in Arctic Canada and the most northern reaches of Europe and Asia. During the harsh winters in these severe cold habitats, the geese migrate south to winter in the United States, Central Europe, Japan, and lower regions of Canada. It especially likes wintering in Southwest Alaska.

As usual, the custom postmark will be the large pictorial designed for the First Day of Issue. This is the very first time that a white-fronted goose will appear on a Collins "Duck" cover, and the cachet is superb.

Only those ordering now will receive this cover.

As my long-term collectors know, this once-a-year offering is eagerly awaited. My Federal Migratory Bird Stamp ("Duck") cover is available only to those collectors preordering at this time from this announcement. There will be no "second chance" or subsequent announcements. It's what I term an "immediate sell-out" because they will be produced only for those ordering them now. They are never available on my future price lists. Each year, without fail, several collectors are disappointed beCause they missed out by ordering too late. Not only will this gem become a future treasure of the hobby, but because it can't be ordered after this opportunity, it will immediately become an open-market prize. Be sum to return your order form in a timely manner to ensure your order. Thank you.
