Latin Music Legends
Tito Puente
Tito was a Latin jazz and salsa musician. He served in the Navy during World War II, and when he was discharged after serving for three years starting in 1942, he received a Presidential Commendation for seeing action in nine battles. The GI Bill enabled him to study music at the Juilliard School of Music where he earned a degree in conducting, orchestration, and theory.
It was during the 1950s that Puente reached the heights of his popularity. He helped bring Latin sounds like the cha-cha-cha and the mambo to mainstream audiences. In later years, he moved into pop music and especially liked to perform the bossa nova. His first Grammy Award was in 1979, and he went on to win four more. Tito's career lasted over 50 years, and his work as a famous drummer gave him the legacy as one of the best Latin jazz perfoiniers ever. In fact, he was known as "The King of Latin Music."
My individually hand painted cachet captures the enthusiasm of this awesome musician. In bright watercolors and a vibrant composition, it captures the delightful and energetic personality of this talented star. I'm pleased to offer the King of Latin Music — Tito Puente. Collins #K4801 at $14.00.
