Statue of Liberty

Collins Cover Announcement

STATUE OF LIBERTY

The individually hand painted cachet on this cover is an outstanding portrayal of one of our most cherished symbols of freedom — the Statue of Liberty. It is a dramatic perspective, looking up at Lady Liberty's head, crown, and towering torch. I've added a wonderful backdrop of clouds, and it is the mixture and blending of their appealing coloration that allows the bold, natural look of the Statue itself to become such a great example of patriotic cachet art.

There is another reason that you will want to have this First Day Cover in your collection. The U.S. Postal Service did not pursue due diligence in its research, and the photograph which the stamp is based on was that of a Las Vegas hotel and casino replica rather than the real Statue in New York Harbor. Jay Bigalke of LINN'S Stamp News broke the story in their paper. Thus, the intentions of the USPS were good, and, in fact, it is a nice image of the statue, but the notoriety of the story of the stamp makes it a nice item for your collection.

I'm pleased to present my hand painted cachet for the actual Statue of Liberty as she proudly holds the torch of freedom to the heavens. Collins #L4901 — $14.00.
