The first cachet of this year's Civil War covers is now ready. The individually watercolored cachet captures in fine detail the naval confrontation during the Battle of New Orleans. The format is the same as last year's cachet for the Fort Sumter stamp. The large, over-sized and extremely detailed stamp is at the upper right with the New Orleans small bullseye first day of issue postmark. The U.S. Stars and Stripes and the Confederate Stars and Bars make a beautiful and colorful bottom border — hand painted, of course, on each cover. The naval battle really turned out great with the realistic watercolors resulting in a truly superb cachet.
