Bicycling America

Learning to Ride

This interesting set really grew on me the more I thought about how to present it on my cachets. I liked the colors and stamp-design- presentation, and there is no denying that bikes continue to rise in popularity in an active America. From childhood to sports to business, bikes play an important role in the recreational and physical fitness lives of many.

To produce these cachets, I first created the working theme (and subsequent title) "Bicycling America." For each of the four distinct bicycle models, I placed the rider in a prominent location important in the history of our great nation. The end result is one that I think you'll really enjoy as the four First Day Covers weave a thread that combines Americana, sports, and recreation via the individually hand painted cachets.

The first "Learning to Ride" cover pictures a youngster pedaling by the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. It's a very nice way to start this mini-series as it combines our historic past with the young enthusiasm of the present. Bicycling America — Learning to Ride. Collins # U5001 at $14.00.
