Scenic American Landscapes
Glacier National Park, Montana
Collins Cover Announcement
Gracier Nationd Park
Wildlife cach et 85¢ stamp
I'm very pleased to offer this Glacier National Park cachet as it captures the grandeur of this national treasure. The individually hand painted wildlife cachet shows a young wolverine amid three varieties of wildflowers. This elusive and rarely seen animal has his front paws on an old log as he warily surveys his domain.
What makes this Collins cover especially nice is that the wolverine is surrounded by three wildflowers native to the park. In front of him is the lovely yellow glacier lily which was mentioned in the journals of the Lewis and Clark expedition. To his right is a patch of flowering bear grass which was also discovered by the Corps of Discovery. And to complete the scene, in the foreground at the lower right is the bright eye-catching pink/red fireweed which is a perfect highlight for the scene.
The crowning touch is the rugged mountain range in the background which really gives great perspective to the entire cachet.
The bear-like wolverine is a powerful animal and is active night and day. It climbs well, swims welland has a range of almost 800 square miles. I'm pleased to present this one as he travels through the
boundless beauty of Glacier National Park. Collins #X4901 at $14.50.
