Nebraska 1991

Canada Goose by Neal Anderson

Fred's Anecdotal Note

1991 NEBRASKA

This MILFORD First Day Cover is an important one. The stamp is a "First of State', being the initial issue for Nebraska. To the best of my knowledge, it also is canceled with the first specifically designed U.S. Postal Service pictorial postmark for a State Duck issue. That such a cancel was used on a First of State issue makes this FDC a truly historic philatelic item. It is, of course, the first MILFORD Nebraska. Stamp serial numbers used were 34641 to 35000.

Five Canadian Geese skim over a far-reaching cornfield. It is a virtual sea of high, green stalks stretching to the horizon as far as the eye can see. A hand-painted cachet from the heartland of America honoring the "Cornhusker State" of Nebraska.
