"Soaring"

This hand-painted cachet captures the classic pose of the ski-jumper. Body extended over the skis. Straining for the form that will add style points from the judges and distance to the jump. This work portrays the true essence of soaring through space as a blurred background of white, blue and gray snow combines with green vegetation on the mountainside. I cannot do justice to describing the clear, focused jumper in his red, white and blue clothing flying across the cover contrasting against the blurred background. This is a fine Olympic and Sports topical FDC and a fitting conclusion to my looking at the sport of Ski-Jumping from various views via the six cover set.

The stamp has the Anchorage, Alaska First Day bullseye. Each of the Ski-Jumping FDCs stands on its own merit. Together they accomplish what I set out to do. They form a mini-set of COLLINS FDCs that have taken one winter sport and viewed it from six different perspectives through the cachet art-form. Different. Nice Olympic material. Item #I1306 - $7.00.
