WINTER OLYMPICS

This is the fifth of six covers offered to document in First Day Cover fashion the sport of ski jumping. I have shown from different views and perspectives the various stages of the jump. This entire cachet puts the viewer at the top of the ramp near the starting gate. It's as though you are the next jumper. The current skier has hurtled off the jump far below and he is silhouetted against the white snow blanket of the landing field. The massive crowd rings the landing area.

The inner panes of the fencing that borders the ramp are lined with glass. Each reflects the opposite views from the mountainside vistas including trees, people, and fencing. A single stamp is tied to the cover with the Anchorage official bullseye.
