My in-depth study of ski-jumping portrayed in a mini-series of six First Day Covers continues. This offering is entitled "Starting Gate" and it depicts a close-up of the jumper as he gets ready to push off down the ramp. A cluster of six people -- officials and on-deck contestants -- watch from the starter's hut as the jumper begins his run.

You will enjoy this addition to your set. Concentration can be seen etched in the face. Knees bent and body crouched, the jumper is poised to spring forward and propel himself downward on the steep slope. A single is canceled via the Anchorage, Alaska bullseye.
